Advanced NEPA Training

TCC FAEP is proud to provide the in-person Advanced National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Training with ICF at SFWMD West Palm Beach Offices on March 5-6th, 2024.

Many actions that effect the environment including projects that involve federal funding, require federal permits, or are proposed on federal land must be reviewed under National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The key to successful implementation of the NEPA process, especially with current aggressive delivery schedules, is having an advanced working knowledge of the regulations, legal interpretations and understanding how regulatory shifts are affecting agency practices.

This hands-on training will provide attendees with the opportunity to dive into NEPA fundamentals, processes, intent, including why it must be considered. The training will present a thorough review of each section, cover legal requirements, identifying alternatives and will include updates based on current legislation and industry trends. The workshop consists of an interactive format through exercises, case studies and working through common mistakes in both a group setting and in breakout groups. The program includes the opportunity to work one-on-one with NEPA professionals to further enhance comprehensive learning and facilitate a deep understanding of the topic and processes. Additionally, this training will have focused sections on Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects.

Training sessions will include complimentary continental breakfast, boxed lunch, snacks and technology breaks to connect back with the office. In addition, the workshop includes a networking social in the West Palm Beach area at the conclusion of Day 1 full day training and a Q&A session at the conclusion of Day 2 half day training.

Course Objectives

  • Review the key policy, players, procedures and practices of NEPA

  • Discuss the key issues that arise with the NEPA process and how to successfully resolve them

  • Learn how to prepare defensible and usable NEPA documents

  • To make NEPA “user-friendly”

  • To make you “NEPA-friendly”

Intended Audience

This training will benefit professionals who work in related natural resource disciplines, federal agency projects, federal permitting, federal land management, real estate transactions, transportation, or other infrastructure projects with a NEPA review component. Roles include environmental engineers & scientists, project managers, consultants, regulators, planners, attorneys and those who work on federal lands or with federal permits.

Schedule

  • Day 1 Full Day Training 8 am-5 pm

  • Day 1 Evening Networking Social Sponsored by HDR 5:30-7:30 pm (optional)
